The Wind Machine
Saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos presents his second personal album, “The Wind Machine”, which is a Quintet adaptation to some of the most celebrated compositions for a larger jazz ensemble. It covers a widespread of Big Band originals, from the classic sounds of Woody Herman and Count Basie to the more contemporary Buddy Rich and Thad Jones. The inspiration came from the album "A Chip off The Old Block" by Stanley Turrentine, where the entire record is a tribute to the Basie songbook. All the music has been arranged for a quintet but yet the goal was to maintain the energy and interplay you get with a larger jazz group.
